Negative vs. Positive

How do you perceive the world? Do you find yourself dwelling on the negative or seeking the positive?”

“People deal too much with the negative, with what is wrong. Why not try and see positive things, to just touch those things and make them bloom?” - Thich Nhat Hanh

In previous blogs, I have admitted to being a pessimist. However, I have found more positives over the last few years, and life is more pleasant. As a result, I am slowly becoming more optimistic!

Why get rid of the negative? Because it causes much anxiety and depression. If you see the worst in the world, people, and daily life, there is the possibility that you could take on the characteristics of Eeyore in Winnie the Pooh.

Eeyore used to be my favorite character to collect; I had Eeyore figurines, clothing, pictures, and Christmas ornaments. Those items fit my thought process and the mood that I was experiencing. I enjoyed all the knick-knacks I had, but it was not healthy. So I began to sound like Eeyore, and my thought process grew more like his.

I have learned that NEGATIVITY MUST STOP!!!!!

How am I learning to be more positive?

I began to recognize and be thankful for all the blessings I have. I have a gratitude journal and write three things I am grateful for daily. I have positive people in my life that help me refocus and find the positive in situations. I smile and allow myself to feel positive. Also, I choose to look at the positive.

I wish I could say that I have conquered negativity; I am still working on it. I am blooming and am happier today because I now make an effort to seek the positive.

Today, choose to seek the positive.
