Is Your Glass Half Full or Half Empty?

“The pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity. The optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.” – Winston Churchill

Do you see the glass as half empty or half full? Is life more challenging than it needs to be, or are you living life to the fullest?

The lens you look at life through makes a difference.

I am a recovering pessimist. I spent most of my life seeing the negative. I still struggle in this area but am making progress towards being more positive. Since I have been looking at things in a more positive manner, I am happier and look forward to more opportunities in life.

The following are 11 ways to become more of an optimist:

1) Create some positive mantras

2) Focus on your success

3) Get a role model

4) Focus on the positive

5) Don’t try to predict the future

6) Surround Yourself with positivity

7) Keep a gratitude journal

8) Challenge negative thoughts

9) Focus on the solution rather than the problem

10) Fake it

11) Don’t dwell on the past

You may wonder why I call this blog Sunflowers in the Fields. Sunflowers have played a part in encouraging me to seek the positive. There was a time when life was very dark and challenging. A friend gave me a picture of a sunflower, and when I would look at it, I would smile, and it gave me a pick-me-up. That picture was one of the things that helped to bring me out of my darkness. I have several sunflowers in my home, and they continue to lighten my mood! The sunflower reminds me to focus on the positive!

I encourage you to find ways to look at life positively.
