“Smell the sea and feel the sky. Let your soul and spirit fly.” – Van Morrison
Are you stressed? Do you need to get away? Do you need to spend some time in cooler weather? Try spending some time at the ocean.
Last week I blogged about finding joy. One place to find joy is in God’s creation. In that blog, I stated that I am a “city girl” but that I have great respect for nature. The last couple of weeks have been stressful, and I needed to find my joy. This time I was not going to find it by shopping.
Last weekend I had the opportunity to spend time at the ocean. The beauty, the smell, and the sound of that massive body of water were relaxing.
Planning for this trip started a couple of weeks ago. A friend and I decided to go away for the weekend, and our destination was Morro Bay. Once the decision was made, I excitedly planned for the trip. My friend Bonnie took care of making reservations, and all I had to do was pack! We were only there overnight, but I could not decide what to bring, so I brought too much. (You would expect a “fashionista” to pack too many clothes!)
As we left Fresno, I got more and more excited. Our first stop was Cambria, and I took a deep breath. The aroma of the sea was magnificent! I immediately started to destress and realized I was already enjoying this weekend.
After we stopped in Cambria, we went to Morro Bay. My great-grandmother lived in Morro Bay. I grew up visiting her and enjoying the coast. As we drove and walked through the town, many memories engulfed me. Several landmarks reminded me of what I would look for to determine how close we were to grandma’s house,
We also visited Cayucos and Pismo.
Since I am a city girl and enjoy shopping, you know that some of that took place. Did you know that Pismo has a small outlet mall? We checked out that shopping center and did purchase some items.
I found that taking time to enjoy the scent of the ocean and watching and hearing the breakers extremely calming. I also traveled with a friend I enjoy spending time with we laughed!! I let my soul and spirit fly!
